Hypnobirthing Frequently Asked Questions

Hypnobirthing Frequently asked questions

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis can be described as focused attention, it is a method of undoing previously learned negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs. We do hypnosis many times a day without knowing, when driving on auto pilot or being engrossed in a book or the TV.

How much is the course?

A private 1:1 course in your own home is £300.00, group courses are £240.00 & zoom courses are £120.00

Does my partner need to attend the course?

It is beneficial for your partner to attend the course with you so that they understand what you are doing, share the experience with you, create a special bond between the two of you and understand their role during your pregnancy and labour. If you would like to attend by yourself or with someone else then that is absolutely ok.

On a private 1:1 course you can have multiple people attend the course with you as it is in your own home, however a group course is limited to yourself and one other.

What materials do I get on the course?

You will receive an audio mp3, The Hypnobirthing Book and a parent folder that includes everything we cover on the course.

At what stage of pregnancy can I start the course?

You can attend the course at any point in your pregnancy, the earlier you start, the more time you have to practice. Please note; the course is over 4 weeks.

Do I need to attend a face to face course or can I do it online?

The answer to this question really depends on your budget and what you would like to get from a hypnobirthing course. I offer face to face group and private sessions, zoom sessions as well as a link to the KGH online course which is prerecorded by Katharine Graves. You will gain many benefits from every delivery of the course, the choice comes down to your budget and preference. The face to face group courses have the benefit of meeting other people in your area who are pregnant at the same time as you, getting to know them and making new mum friends.

Will I have a pain free birth?

Pain is a very subjective experience and therefore we cannot tell what pain is to somebody. Hypnobirthing cannot guarantee you a pain free birth, however it does teach you the tools to feel comfortable with the feelings you experience during birth as well as an understanding of what your body is doing and where the feelings come from.

What happens after the course?

After the course, I will be available by phone or email for any questions you have and to offer support throughout your pregnancy.

Please note; I am not medically trained and the hypnobirthing course does not provide medical advice. Please consult with your main caregiver for any medical concerns.

I have a planned caesarean section, can I still do the course and benefit?

Absolutely, the techniques learnt in the course are life skills and applicable no matter what birth you have. If you have a planned caesarean, you will greatly benefit from being relaxed, calm, comfortable and in a positive mind set. The course is also much more than just the techniques, being informed, understanding what happens during different types of birth, what is available in each birth setting and understanding the choices you have are just some of the benefits of the course.

I am choosing a hospital birth, can I still do hypnobirthing?

Absolutely! There is sometimes a misconception that hypnobirthing is for people wanting a home birth, however the course is designed for any type of birth and any situation. The skills you learn on the course are not only related to birth but are life skills.

What are the benefits of hypnobirthing?

There are many benefits for the mother, father and the baby. I have listed the benefits on the courses page.
